The WNBA hasn’t been profitable since it’s start. The NBA continues to support, but the league and its athletes continue to suffer. Fans, players, and critics point fingers but the true reason is the lack of coverage and support from corporate America.

Phase One
Researching
Before diving into ideation and design, I had to first research what the problem was and how it could be solved. I did this through many mediums, including articles, videos, online communities, and more.
Phase Two
Ideating
Covering a topic as important as this one requires an approach to the design aesthetics that grabs its audience's attention. I looked at a lot of different crime documentaries and title sequences along with sport promotional ads for inspiration.
Phase Three
Sketching
In creating sketches, I played with a couple different directions for a final visual approach. Using inspiration from popular Nike and other sport apparel brands, black and white imagery took the forefront of one idea.
Unfortunately, this idea relied too heavily on imagery and left little to no room for motion/animation. This led to a direction inspired by collages, documentary title sequences, and journalist videos from groups like VOX.
Phase Four
Producing
To create the sliding animation style I envisioned, I created 3 expanded artboards to then be zoomed in on and dragged across the screen. This would allow me to build a layout and final image that would effectively communicate my message while establishing a consistent and appealing visual before adding any animations or effects.
